  • Wendy & Scott - Let us hope the new year will bring good health and happiness to all of you. In another month, it looks like you may be near the end of the chemo treatments for Katie and looking forward to your return home. It is too bad she has to endure such tough days. It has to be hard on everyone. We have you in our prayers daily as we have since September. The best to you in the new year. Love Grandma & Grandpa Markham

  • Scott, Wendy & Katie, I'm so sorry to hear that today has been a rough day. I will continue to check the site and see how you are all doing. You have to be amazingly strong and loving parents, you are doing a great job. I was reading some past messages and read about the kidney transplant story. My brother in law had a kidney transplant three weeks ago and is still at Mayo, waiting to be cleared. He too has been waiting for a long time, had a volunteer, but something ended up to be bad on the kidney. His transplant was supposed to be in September, the same time as my dad's stem cell transplant, but it didn't occur. Two weeks before Christmas Dan was notified of a match from an anonymous donor. Dan should be coming home soon and my dad, who had a stem cell transplant over 60 for ALL, was just released from Omaha after 91 days post transplant. He still has a very long road ahead and a lot of recovery, but I pray daily that he will have a full recovery. I pray, due to this disease, all day long and Katie has been added to my prayers. There are many tough days throughout this process and I pray that tomorrow will be better for you! Mary

  • Hi Scott, Wendy, So happy to hear you all had a wonderful x-mas. Nothing exciting happened up here. There is a nasty flu going on around here. Better to stay out. I wanted to share a website with you called songsoflove.org. The record songs for sick kiddos. I just sent in our info to see if Samuel will qualify in light of our new diagnosis. We miss seeing you but are glad you are all healthy and enjoying time away. All our love

  • Dear Scott and Wendy, Where does one start when two people you care about are going through such a trial. I have followed your web site since I heard of it and have all of my friends here praying without ceasing for you and your daughter. I would like to test to be a donor for your daughter also. Tell me what I need to do and I will do it. I know that sometimes when we go through trials we want to question God about why and sometimes we never know until we see him face to face but one thing I do know is he has promised to never forsake or abandon us. I also know that if we stand strong in our faith he always brings something good from our trial. KEEP THE FAITH! NEVER GIVE UP. God is true to his word and will see you through this! I want to tell you about a recent miracle I was part of. Last January, while praying , God put it in my heart to donate a kidney to a man I barely knew from my church. This man< Daniel, was in full kidney failure with little time to live and pretty much all hope gone also. His family and friends had all been tested and either were not matches or just weren't willing to give such a sacrifice. I also questioned God as I hate needles, I had never been in the hospital or had any type of surgery. But God impressed upon me that this was his will. Daniel had given up hope of finding a donor and had resigned to himself that life would soon be over. You see he and his family had prayed for over 2 years for God to heal him. When I asked him if I could test he thought I was joking or something but I told him that God told me to do this, and then when he did see I was serious, he didn't think I would Be a match. He is Hispanic and we are not related so in worldly terms it did not seem possible. But with God all things are possible. Long story but the bottom line is I was a perfect match. Daniel is now back to work and doing all those things with his family that he never imagined he would do again. I spoke with him tonight and the doctors are so amazed at how good he is doing. Two weeks ago they again lowered his anti-rejection medicine to just 3 pills a day and that will go lower as God is not finished with his miracle yet. I believe that he will eventually need no rejection medicine as I serve a God who doesn't do part miracles but does complete miracles to his glory. HALLELUJAH!! The doctor says most transplant patients take 10 or more pills a day but every time they test Daniel his white count is low so they take another pill away. What used to be a 1 month prescription now lasts 21/2 months. I tell you this so you know that God is a miracle working God TODAY and if you hold strong to him and your faith God will not fail you. Jesus said, come to me all you who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest. In other words put all your faith in him and trust him to take care of your daughters healing. Wish I could be there with you but know that we are all with you in spirit. If there is one thought I could impress upon you today it is what Jesus said, " with men these things are impossible but with God all things are possible" No matter what the doctors or anyone else says hold onto that promise. All our love to you and your family, Uncle D. J., Aunt Kat and Dugan

  • I want to say Merry Christmas to everyone! I didn't get cards out but wanted to tell everyone "thank you" for all your love and support. A special thanks to my family for their love and prayers! Diana, you are so thoughtful and supportive, as are mom, Randy, Bob, Sherry, Lisa, and the rest of you who check on us regularly. I am so blessed to have you as family. It has been a great experience for us to be able to be here for Katie, Scott, Wendy, and Tyler. We have formed a closeness that will last a lifetime and I am forever grateful for that! I also want to thank Wendy's family for their continued support in this trying time. They have also become family to me. Finally, we all need to give thanks to God for the miracle of Katie. She is the best gift we could have imagined this Christmas!

  • Scott & Wendy ~ Sorry to hear that none of you turned out to be a match for Katie. Does the matching initially start out with blood type? I am sure their are a lot of us that would be willing to get tested if a match cannot be found. We will be praying for you & hoping you will continue to be blessed! Mayson & I really enjoyed our visit last week!

  • Scott & Wendy, I haven't written in a while, but I check on you and pray for all of you daily. As we near the day when we celebrate the birth of our Savior, we will also celebrate the life of our little angel Kaitlyn. How much more meaningful Christmas must be to you this year as you love on your baby and wonder what the future holds for her, much as Mary and Joseph loved on Jesus, appreciating every day and wondering what tomorrow held for HIm! What a gift you have...living with a miracle every day! I am so proud of you for your faith, strength and courage, and pray that God will draw you closer to Him daily, and that you will continue to pursue Him as your strength and your salvation! I love you all very much and just want to remind you that your "Arizona Family" prays for you without ceasing. We are so totally indebted to Colleen and her family for representing us with such love, grace, and integrity! It is easy to see that she has truly blessed you with her unfaltering support! I know that God will reward her in ways that we cannot even imagine! God bless all of you and give you the merriest Christmas ever!! Love, Aunt Diana

  • Hello-I want to say how great it was spending Thanksgiving with you all. We are all thankful for so many things this year. Mallory said she was thankful that God kept Katie with us and did not let her die. I am thankful for my family number one, Katie's healing and progress through this whole tragedy, for the positive changes with my sister and our relationship and the closeness I have gained with my family and so many people who I now consider family. Colleen and family-thank you so much for Thanksgiving dinner and inviting us into your home, we enjoyed spending the day with you all-you are all special people. As we enter the Christmas season everyone please remember our family and most importantly the Cameron's as they continue to battle this cancer and all the problems that have come with it. I continue to be amazed by Katie's strength and happiness & yet having to deal with things people don't encounter their whole life. Wendy & Scott continue to be strong, pray to God and hold on to faith and hope. We love you all and are here for anything you need, please lean on us when it gets too tough. Everyone please continue to pray for Katie's healing, donate to the family if you are able especially this time of year as we give to each other. Remember to live each moment, love each other and pray for God is the reason for the season. I have definitely underestimated his power and the power of prayer as I have seen the miracle of Katie. Love to you all. Tricia
