All of you are in our prayers daily as well as Tyler and your parents. Keep your chins up and your eyes toward The Lord and He will see you through this very trying time.

  • Our God is truly an Awesome God!! Great things can be done with the power of prayer and He performs miracles everyday! I've seen it firsthand. My stepdad suffered a stroke this past June. In fact your sister, Tricia, was his nurse here before they took him to Clarkson in Omaha. The dr. wasn't sure if it was a stroke or a tumor, and it took about 24 hours for them to figure it out. During that time we all prayed that God would help heal him, we even said a prayer around his bed while we each placed a hand on him. A short time after the prayer around his bed we found out for sure that it was a stroke and not a tumor. Which was a huge sigh of relief for all of us because we weren't sure what the future had in store if it was a tumor. The next day the whole neurology team talked to my parents. After looking over his MRI and CT scans, they said they had never seen such a massive stroke in someone who did not suffer any paralysis. The only effect the stroke left was his face was a little droopy and he was having trouble seeing out of one eye. But with the help of physical therapy all summer he fully recovered. My stepdad celebrated his 43rd birthday a week after he suffered his stroke. And the whole family was so thankful for the blessings God bestowed upon us during that week. I know He is holding Katie and your family in his arms and you will all come through this a stronger, closer family. I check the website every day to see how she is doing. And I will continue to hold you all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Julie

Sender: Jenny (Schneider) Kinter

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Wendy. Shirley Nelson just told me about your daughter when I was home in GI. I just had my first baby in September and can't imagine how hard this would be. God doesn't put you through anything you can't handle and he never wastes a hurt, either. Love, Jen

Sender: Melissa (the student nurse from 11/7 and 11/9)

  • Scott and Wendy- I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to you before I left on 11/9, because I wanted to give you guys as much quiet time as you could possibly get. I know you need it. It has been an honor and a privilege to care for Katie and to have met you both. I know that sometimes it seems that it's a never-ending cycle and that you can't take anymore, but you are both SO strong and you will conquer this. I know how much you guys love Katie and she knows it as well. Your nurturing and caring is what will get Katie through this bump in the road. As scary as cancer is...it's true that kids with cancer DO get better. I'm living proof. Please stay strong and never, ever give up. You will find your light at the end of the tunnel, just as I found mine. You and Katie are in my prayers. Give her my love and please don't hesitate to Email me if you need someone to listen.

    -Melissa

Sender: Aunt Barb and Jody

  • Just a quick note to let you know we're still with you. Checking the website every single day as if by sheer willpower we can help our little inchworm get through this. Also, that each email, piece of stationery, etc, that we may send (to someone unaware)--in one form or another--bears the words, "Prayers For Katie" and the address to her website. (And, yes, that also includes a magnet or two). So hang in there dear hearts. The eyes of the world are upon you. You're always in our hearts and prayers. Love, Aunt Barb and Jody

    Love you baby,

    Mommy and Daddy

  • Scott and Wendy, We think about you guys all the time. We miss you so much!! Stay strong, I know what it's like to see someone you love so much in pain and you can't do anything to help her except put all your faith in god and the doctors. It is very, very hard but cherish every moment with her. She is so strong and a fighter. She will make it through this. We are praying for her here in Kansas. We love you!! Chris, Stephanie, Alex and Branden Cameron.

Sender: Tricia Kokes

  • Thinking of you guys and Katie as usual. Wishing I could be there to spend time with her, she is such a joy and inspiration. Everyone continue to pray and donate for the family if you are able. Continue to pray for Tyler as well as he is dealing with so much and so many changes. We love you and are praying for Katie's complete healing. Everything happens for a reason and only God has the answers. Continue to be strong for Katie and each other. Let us do whatever we can for you. Miss you and thinking about you every second. Love Trish

  • Hi Katie, Scott, & Wendy, I want to tell you how much we have enjoyed getting to know you and your family. You are a joy to be around and Katie, you are adorable. Thanks for all of the support you have given our family this past month. We will never forget you or Katie. I can't wait for the day when I hear that Katie can go home to see her brother and sleep in her own bed. For now sleep tight and sweet dreams! Denise Larson & Family

  • Hi again guys. Sounds like Katie health's a roller coaster ride. I know she will make it through this. She is so strong. I am begging my mom to come up this summer and stay with Aunt Colleen and I think I have her convinced. I know it's a long ways away but I will definitely have to visit you guys while I'm up there. I pray for all of you every night. I hope you guys are hanging in there. Oh yeah, my computer won't register the music but I hope you guys liked it. Casting Crowns has some cds too. I went to their concert and it was life changing. Their cd "LIFESONG" has a lot of songs I think you guys could relate to. It's truly amazing how just some of those songs can make a relationship with God so much stronger. Well if you get a chance listen to some of their music, its AWESOME. Ask Aunt Dianna...she's the one who got me hooked. Love you all and I miss you, Kaleigh P.S. Hi Aunt Colleen. I miss you!

Sender: Michelle Dramse

  • First of all, you have the strongest and loving family that anyone could ask for. I called my family church today and put all of you on our prayer chain, so we are all praying for you. We all love you and read your updates daily.

Sender: Trish

  • Wow! What an awesome gift God has sent to our family. Katie you are such an inspiration to me. Through all that you have endured you still always have a beautiful smile. You have made me believe more than I ever have in my life and taught me so many precious things. Wendy and Scott I so much admire your strength and courage. Wendy I am extremely proud of you and what you do every day on the longest most stressful days of your life. Continue to be strong for Katie and each other, hang on to and lean on one another. Before you know it this will be over and you can look back and say wow look what we went through and made it and be a strength and encourage others going through the same things. Dad-I am so proud of you and how you have stepped up and taken on a bigger role in the kid's lives, I admire that very much. Thanks to those who check the site daily, please continue to pray and donate for the family and pass it on to everyone you know. I love you all so much, I can't even express it into words. I may even write an inspirational story about all of this even if it's just for Katie to read about and maybe other struggling families. To all those families going through tough times hang on to your family, hope and prayers and you'll be amazed what happens-I definitely am!! Love you all. Love Trish

Sender: Mandy

  • I am thinking of you and praying for you each and every day. Sending you lots of well wishes.

Sender: Merry Johnson

  • Wendy and Scott: Sorry we didn't get to see you on Monday when you stopped by the office Wendy. I know it was not a social trip back to GI and understand you didn't have time to stop up to see us. It is special for Tyler that you got to take him trick or treating. I talked to my sister in law over the weekend. She lives in Omaha and has a 9 year old grandson, Alex Montano. Alex has a classmate that is in Children's Hospital with some form of cancer. My sister in law didn't know many details except that he was there in Children's. I wish I knew his name. I bet you are visiting with his parents. It becomes extended family when you meet folks in the same situation. Isn't it a small world? It sounds like you are in for a difficult week. BE STRONG.......can we do anything besides pray???? Let us know if we can. Merry Johnson

Sender: Denise

  • Wow Katie is doing great. I am so happy. Geez I miss you all so very much and am amazed at the progress that she is doing, and to be able to witness it every step is also very amazing. I love all of you and cant wait to see you.

Sender: Aunt Colleen

  • Scott and Wendy, I feel so blessed to be here and be able to spend time with you, Katie, and Tyler and the rest of the family when they are here. I ADORE Katie and love every minute I get to have with her. She inspires me with her strength, her will, and her awesome spirit. She is amazing how she can be in so much pain one moment and within seconds has a smile on her face. It's a life lesson we could all use. Attitude is everything! Please don't EVER hesitate to call me and ask me for whatever you need. I am here for you ALWAYS!

I also have to tell Kaleigh, my niece, you ROCK! I love you very much and it is so heartwarming to see such support and faith from a teen-ager. And, Jeremy, thanks for adding the music...I hadn't heard the song Kaleigh referred to and it was great to hear it on the website right after I read her message. Love to all!
