I would like to pass on some information about a bone marrow drive that Marcy Krowkolski (her father has ALL) and I are trying to plan for this summer in Grand Island. People could go to the drive and be tested to be put on the National Registry, which if you are a match for someone, you could save their life someday. We will keep you posted when we know more. Please remember how important it is to donate blood and platelets. It really does save lives because without them, cancer patients would not survive.
Well, our luck just never seems to end. Yesterday, Scott was
building a workbench for Tyler's birthday and he drilled through his
finger with a drill bit. It went about half way through his finger and
he had to go to Prompt Care and get 5 stitches. He will be getting his
stitches out the same day Katie gets her cast off, in about 8 more days
:)
Hello. Sorry it has been a while since the last update. We finally got internet hooked up at our house. Its dial up and really, really slow, but it works. Not much new here. Katie is doing well with her broken leg. Every time she falls and gets a bruise I find myself freaking out thinking something is wrong, but then I have to remind myself that kids fall and get bruises all the time. Its a daily struggle to try not to worry about the CANCER, but we are doing our best trying to live life as normal as possible. Tyler has two loose teeth in his mouth and he is very worried about them falling out. He already has his permanent tooth coming in behind them so we hope they come out sooner than later. Scott has been busy at work and I have been busy chasing little Katie around the house. She will get her cast off in about a week. We will be going to Omaha on the 29th and 30th for her testing. Tyler will have to stay with Grandma because he cant miss anymore school. Well, that's all for now. Thanks for checking on us. Love, The Camerons
Well, not much new to report. Katie is learning new ways to get around on her broken leg. Its so funny to watch her sometimes. She has been in a lot of discomfort and has a hard time sleeping most of the time. Tyler is busy with school and we are planning his birthday party for April. We will be going to Omaha at the end of this month for Katie's checkup and bone density test. She has three more weeks to wear her cast. Thank you all for your continued prayers and birthday cards and wishes you sent to Katie on her 2nd birthday.
Well, we had an accident on Monday. Katie was playing on the bed with her brother and fell off. She wouldn't stop screaming and I knew something was wrong so we took her to the doctor right away. She had an x ray and we discovered she broke both bones in her right leg. Therefore, she has a beautiful pink cast on from her ankle to above her knee. As usual, she is handling it with grace and getting along the only way she knows how, on her own. She will have to wear the cast for four weeks. She had a great birthday on the 8th and got lots of cute things. Scott is now back to work and I am adjusting to being a stay at home mom for the time being. We will be participating in the Relay for Life in June here in Grand Island at Central Catholic. Katie will get a tee shirt and we will go there and do the survivor lap and hopefully sell some bags in Katie's name. Please continue to pray for Katie and that she stays in remission forever.
We are here at Childrens Hospital for Katie's checkup and her IVIG. We just saw the doctor and she said her counts look great and she is doing very well. Scott and I were contacted a couple days ago by the hospital to participate in a radiothon for Childrens Hospital to raise money. It is going on from Thursday through Saturday in the lobby here in the hospital. We will be telling our story at 1:30 p.m. today. I am a little nervous, but Scott said he would do all the talking. Anyway, we are adjusting well to home life. Our neighborhood is having a food shower for us this Sunday. We will be celebrating Katie's birthday on March 8th. Scott is going back to work this Monday. I dont know what I will do. I have been so use to him the last six months, it will be strange. No news is good news. Love you all.
